Music Industry
After 40 years in the Music Industry, Ria continues to strive to support the needs of all South African Artists. She Organised many occasions for Top Multi Racial Singers the under Privileged and Terminal ill victims. The Company Nashville Productions, Owned by RIA, Manager/Booking Agent for all Top S.A. Artists the last 20 Years. RIA has over 300 Top Singers registered with her and enormous Audience follow her around to her Shows and Productions.
Celebrity of the Year 2003 & 2005
On 31st July 2003, she was honoured by receiving a TROFEE, as winner of Arts & Culture. The Gala evening was organised and sponsored by Renault SA. Ria has received another Trofee Celebrity of the year 2005 as winner of Personality 2005. This was one of her high lights of her Career and has given her something back to Treasure Forever.
Film Industry:
She enjoys Extra work in the film Industry and I played In Egoli, Skuur, 7de Laan, Stander, Generations, Guns and Noses,”Song vir Katryn”, and “DIK ‘n DUN”. In fact “DIK ‘n DUN” was partly filmed at her house with Lain Shaw and featured during March 2003, on SABC 2. She has done a commercial for Plascon which was featured during 2003 - 2006, and still Been Televised.
Project ‘Second Live’ Television series
Ria has been chosen on 24th July 2005 as one of the Main Players in a Television Medical Program, “Project Second Life”. Production of 142 Series filmed by Roy Scoombie from Second Life Productions. The founder of the Project Dr. RAUTENBAGH from National Health Centre Bryanston. A Panel of Six General Practitioners, 4 Specialists, Professors, Dietician, Fifteen Pharmaceutical Professionals, are involved in this Huge Television Series. Ria plays with Celebrity “Nana” from the Band ‘Stimela’ and Fritz Kloppers a vibrant farmer. The Presenter of the Program Chantè Hinds previously from the Program Good Morning S.A.
Projects Beach Show 2006’
Latest Project planned, a Beach Show in Margate, over December, 2006 Festive Season With 30 Top S.A. Artists and three Top Live Backing Bands.This project will be sponsored by an Entertainment Company in JHB. Thirty series will be filmed on the Beach for Television Broadcast. Ria is currently performing Live Shows Countrywide with various Bands & Artists. Her aim is striving to help all artists with their Career, by performing at various Shows, Allowing them the enjoyment, experience and exposure, the Music Industry has to offer.
Project Massive CD Launch
This project generated enormous CD Sales for Local Artists which suffers financially, Not being fortunate, to have Distribution deals with established Recording Companies. These Artists financed their own CD recordings being the only profession they have. The Launch has given them opportunity, to become known in the “Market Place”, and to Sell CD’s. The first Star Dust Music Production of its kind was held on 16th Dec 2002. A massive CD Launch with 44 Top Artists, in conjunction With VIRTUE SHOW BAND, which Has been a huge success, attended by more than 10,000 supporters and Artists. Massive DC Launch held on Saturday 9th August 2003 at Durban Pavillion.
Bles Bridges:
Bles, was a close Friend, Singer and Mentor to Ria, they have shared many Concerts and A lot in the Music Industry. Ria proudly stated that Bles Bridges, started on her stage as her compare in the 1980’s. Until fame has called him for much more to come and he Will always live in her heart. Bles & Ria have been partners in a Race Horse“Red Hot Sun”. In memory she treasured the most beautiful Photo of the Win on 7th Dec 1995. They sold the horse six months before Bles Bridges his death.
No Roses: “No Roses” a song written especially for Bles, by Ria for his love for Roses.
She delivered the song just days before his death, but it has never been recorded A lifetime dream perhaps lost for ever. As personal friends, Bles and Ria have shared the Race Horse “Red Hot Sun” which has Given them 4 Wins and 8 Places during 1995’s.
Benefit Shows:
Her passion for people in need has given her the purpose to live and to make a difference. She has organised and hosted various benefit shows for a number of artists or any one in financial “Dire straights” or terminal illness.
Compilation CD.
The next project for 2006 will be a new compilation CD called the “The Big Six” And will be recorded mid Dec 2005. The founder and veteran Ian Lawrence (Ex Villagers Fame) Morne Lesley, Eddie Clarke, previous Hit (Stolen love), Ria V Wyk, Andre van Wyk, Donald Behm, Previously performed with “The Pretenders”, Tracey Dee & Sandie Nissen will feature on this proposed compilation CD. On completion of this project, myself and other Artists plan to tour the Country in promotion Of the CD. A percentage of the profit will be sponsored, in aid of the “Cancer Foundation”.
Carri-Anne Lee Criswell,
A liver transplant patient who died 3 months after her benefit show. She raised R8,000 and Country Singer Cora Mari who died from Cancer she raised R16,000. Elize Groenewaldt lost both her hands in tragic freak accident in late 1970’s, R60,000 was raised. Tommy Oliver with a serous kidney problem was in need of a dialyse machine she raised R20,000. Fund raising for funerals of Nic Badenhorst & Leon Marais who’s families have been unable to pay.
Linda De Aguihar:
Linda de Aguihar RIA, close friend to who died 20th Nov 2002, from Cancer has touched Her Most and changed her life forever. A Benefit Show was held at Braamfontein Theatre Johannesburg, for Linda which was front page news. A substantial amount was raised for Linda De Aguihar terminal ill Cancer Patient, Linda, Who died 22nd of Nov.2003.
Old Age Homes:
Ria performs live weekly, at various Old age Homes, with other Artists willing to perform To the, forgotten older Generation. For her, it is incredible to feel the love and appreciation in return for this charity work; It means much more than receiving any salary.
